CONGRATULATIONS, to Changzhou for being the first site in Creation to earn the Lean Maturity Assessment – Silver Level Award.

The Lean Maturity Assessment (LMA) has been a cornerstone annual practice of COMS to evaluate both the culture and execution of continue improvement across the entire business unit. LMAs are scheduled to take place at all sites during this calendar year.

The LMA is closely modeled with the Shingo Institute’s framework, which is used to evaluate and award the prestigious Shingo Prize – a global recognition for excellence in Lean practices, awarded only to organizations that represent the best-of-the-best in Lean performance.

Each site’s LMA spans two days and assesses the systems, processes, and behaviors expected under six core Lean Principles: Site Alignment, Cultural Enablement, Continuous Improvement, Built-In-Quality, Velocity, and Results.

Upon completion, the LMA provides a comprehensive report detailing key achievements, noteworthy highlights, and opportunities for improvement. Additionally, each site receives a final score (out of 1,000 points), which places them into one of six tiers: Beginner, Practitioner, Competitor, Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

In 2023, the Changzhou (CHZ) site earned the Bronze Level Award, a prestigious distinction achieved by only three Creation sites that year.

Advancing from Bronze to Silver within just two years is a significant challenge, yet CHZ has shown exceptional commitment to advancing its continuous improvement practices. The site has not only accelerated its internal Lean development but has also shared its expertise with other Creation locations, including Milwaukee, Vancouver, and Everett.

Jennie Xian, CHZ GM/VP, sharing her thoughts, “I am truly honored and thrilled that our site has achieved the LMA Silver Level Award!

This accomplishment not only confirms that we are on the right path but also recognizes the open and continuous improvement mindset of the entire team at Creation Changzhou. It further motivates our entire Changzhou team to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve.

Looking back to September 2023, when we first embarked on the LMA journey and received our Bronze Level Award, the LMA team identified Changzhou’s strengths, best practices, and areas for improvement in a very structured manner. We have taken the necessary actions and have seen tangible enhancements in team communication, Lean knowledge, efficiency, and operational results.

Now, with new improvement opportunities identified through the 2025 LMA, we will continue to explore these possibilities, learning and growing from the LMA journey.”
