One afternoon, my department supervisor walked quickly into the office, tone urgent yet resolute.
“Our U.S. customer has reported quality deviations in our products, which may disrupt their production at any time. You are the only one in the project team with a valid U.S. visa. This urgent on-site investigation relies on you.”
As a core engineer on the project at Changzhou Creation Technologies, I fully understood how critical quality issues could be to the customer’s operations, and how undeniable my responsibility was.
The night before, my wife and I had just planned a weekend camping trip with our two daughters, and most of our luggage was already packed.
Understanding from Family
When I told my wife about the sudden assignment, I worried she would feel disappointed.

“The project matters most. Go without worry. We can reschedule the camping anytime. I’ll take good care of the girls.”
With little time to stay with my family, I repacked my luggage overnight and boarded an early-morning flight from Shanghai to Los Angeles the next day.
After more than ten hours of travel, I went straight to the customer’s incoming inspection workshop without resting from jet lag, joined the local team, and immediately began quality troubleshooting.
For the next week, I stayed on-site every day, fighting severe jet lag, inspecting products closely with a magnifying glass, comparing details repeatedly, and working through every process step alongside the customer’s engineers. Many days I was too busy to even stop for lunch.
When exhaustion set in, I listened to voice messages from my daughters saying “Dad, stay strong”, and their words gave me renewed strength.
In the end, we identified the root cause: precision differences between the two sides’ testing equipment.
We helped the customer unify inspection standards, and raced against time to recheck and sort all shipped products. We blocked risks at the source and successfully prevented the customer’s production line from shutting down.
Recognition from the Customer
This cross-border support earned Changzhou Technologies high praise from the client.
Before I left, the customer’s leader shook my hand sincerely.

On the day I returned to the company, we were holding the quarterly staff meeting.

Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window on a high floor, we overlooked the full scenery of West Taihu Lake.
The blue water shimmered in the sunlight, distant green hills were veiled in mist, and a gentle breeze carried fresh water vapor. My two daughters leaned excitedly by the window, exclaiming how beautiful the view was.
The evening courtyard barbecue was equally warm and cozy.
Under soft warm lighting, the aroma of grilled food filled the air. My wife and daughters chatted and laughed while enjoying the meal. Watching their happy faces filled my heart with deep gratitude.
